Skin Therapist Tania Hore owns Bliss Therapy on St Andrew Street in the centre of Dunedin.
We asked Tania to tell us about her time in the Beauty industry so far.
Tania shares: "My journey began back in 1990. I found that as I learnt more and more about anatomy and physiology and the ingredients in products, I began to question what I was doing and felt that my natural instinct is to go gently and nurture skin. That was very different to where things were heading in the industry at that time. So I took a break from the industry and worked at the University of Otago whilst continuing my study.
A friend told me about Janesce and the philosophy made sense. So I tried it for myself. The change in the appearance of my skin by the end of that week had me hooked for life. I immediately enrolled to retrain and gain an ITEC qualification at Aoraki Polytechnic before the arrival of my daughter Sienna.
Through Janesce I met my Skin Guru/Hero and mentor Janine Tait. Beginning training with Janine was a real turning point for me and has allowed me to become exactly the kind of therapist that I wanted to be. My passion for achieving great looking skin was still there. I now had the tools to work with and go the direction I wanted to go in, which was finally within sight. My mission became more than just a statement.
Every decision I make in my business has my mission in mind. I chose the name Bliss Therapy because it encompasses the big picture when it comes to skin, health and wellbeing. I want to get to the end of my career knowing I have been very conscious of my clients’ health in my quest to help them age well. I do this through a lot of research and very considered choices in products. I don’t believe a glowing skin and looking healthy for your age can be achieved working just topically.
The products I choose to work with are Janesce, Bestow, Cozmetic Lab mineral make up and Coola sun protection. With Janesce I can successfully treat skin conditions. I also find certain products in the Janesce range compliment IPL treatments for pigmentation disorders beautifully. The Bestow products supplement skin nutritionally and allow me to work towards a healthy skin from within. The Bestow recipe books make it very easy for clients to look after themselves with nourishing foods.
My continued study in nutrition sparked the desire to organize Health & Wellbeing clinic events for Clinic owners and their clients. I also organize training seminars for Beauty Therapists covering current and relevant topics and inviting amazing educators and speakers for each seminar. I enjoy attending seminars and trainings myself. I was so excited at Dr Libby’s most recent seminar when she mentioned the importance of thinking about what we are putting on our skin as it does get in to our blood stream. Bingo! Sometimes us therapists just need another messenger in the form of an expert Biochemist.
