The Amazing Power of Your Smile

Written by Antoinette van Zyl on April 15th, 2014.      0 comments

What makes your smile such a powerful thing?
happy woman

It acts as a natural "feel good "antidepressant.
When you smile your body releases natural pain killing hormones called endorphins and serotonin. This happens even when you force a smile! If you find yourself in a bad mood, forcing a smile will help to lift your spirits in an instant.

It takes much more effort for your face to frown, so when you smile you trick your brain into feeling good; this lifts the negativity in your mind. Frowning sends a signal to your brain that something is wrong and this can lead to stress.

Make a point to smile at least one hour a day consistently for a week and see what happens to your stress levels and how it changes your mood.

Smiling boosts your immune system.
When you smile your body is more relaxed. This allows your body to get on with the task at hand of rebuilding and healing. Research shows that smiling reduces your blood pressure.
If you have a blood pressure monitor, take a reading before and after smiling for a few minutes. You will be amazed at the result. Those who smile more live longer.

People are naturally more attracted to you when you smile.
When you smile you more become more attractive and successful. It makes you appear more confident and that will attract positive people into your life. So when you are with a client or in a meeting or at work, smile brightly and see what happens to your day when you do!

If you smile while doing a treatment, your client will subconsciously pick up on your happy energy and it will assist them in feeling more relaxed.

Send a lovely smile out to room full of people and see how contagious it is. Smile at the people when you walk down the street and see the amazing affect it has on others. Make a point of starting your day with a big smile on your face. Every day!

but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy."
