It's official - Ultra Violet has been selected as Pantone's colour of the year for 2018.
Ultra Violet means beyond violet and shows in the colour spectrum as deep and bold.
Violet colours are associated with meaningful inspiration and spiritual fulfilment. They represent the dream, the imagination and the future. In creative terms they’re inspired by science, space and what lies ahead for us in the future. |

Aestheticians are considered licensed makeup artists, however, very few skin care professionals take advantage of that title.
Studies show that most women wish they were more skilled at applying their own makeup. Statistics show that the retail cosmetic sales industry is a billion dollar business. Licensed professionals should be suggesting what is best for their clients' skin and coloring and current trends. |

It’s been a chilly old winter here in NZ so far!
But as sure as the sun will rise in the morning, Spring will follow Winter. And so we look forward to the warmer weather, newborn lambs and beautiful spring blossoms. |

Constantly working to increase your clinic’s income is essential to running a profitable beauty business.
Increasing income requires you to either (a) sell more services or (b) increase prices. Retaining current customers and attracting new clients helps to increase money flow. Another option is to analyse your clinic’s current offerings and service quality to identify areas you can change and improve.

I have a dream… Well a mission really….
That one day teenage girls will value using a good SPF as much as they might value having a labelled lipstick or the latest “must have holy grail make up products” from the latest beauty guru…. I tell you what, your skin will be around longer then that expensive lippy you ‘have’ to have!

Beach weddings are becoming very popular, particularly in romantic exotic locations.
The Pacific Islands are a popular choice because to their close proximity to New Zealand, the year-round warm climate and their tropical beauty.

Beauty employers and employees have an opportunity to give input into the future qualifications in New Zealand Beauty.
It is absolutely ESSENTIAL that everyone in the Beauty Industry speaks up about what they feel should be included in Industry Qualifications.
You cannot complain if you don't speak up. And the results will effect employees and employers equally.

How creating "Add-ons" can benefit your clients and your business.
I’ve never been a fan of discounting treatments. I believe it breeds a client culture of expecting to pay less than what a treatment is worth. It devalues your services. I believe that rather than discounting, we should focus on “add-ons”. |
