The rates of melanoma have been rising for the last 30 years.
The risk of melanoma increases as people age. The average age of people when it is diagnosed is 63. But melanoma is not uncommon even among those younger than 30. In fact, it’s one of the most common cancers in young adults (especially young women). This covers the spectrum from boomers to millennials. |

It’s Ironic that many people spend a lot of time and money on skin care products for their sensitive, reactive skin,
but don’t consider that same amount of money, care, and thought be given to the shampoo, conditioner, and colour frequently applied to their scalp and hair. As professional skin treatment therapists, could we be doing more to educate them? FBH. The core principle of treating sensitive, reactive skins (such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis) is by Corneotherapy techniques and skin care products. We use these products because the ingredients are more physiologically compatible with the skin. |

Because men need a little pampering too...
If there’s one thing the recent uptick in male beauty treatments has given us, it’s a solid appreciation of portmanteau. From the dermal depths of ‘Brotox’ up to the smooth layers of ‘manscaping’, bolting a macho prefix onto the names of those decidedly ladies-only treatments makes them very manly indeed. And thank the grooming gods; getting caught with your hands in your partner’s wash bag was becoming a real risk, right guys? |

What's the difference?
When I was at the doctor a few weeks back (getting antibiotics for my acute bronchitis), she commented on whether I'd like a script for my rosacea. Ahhhh, excuse me lady... Firstly, I don't have rosacea and secondly, I don't do pharmaceuticals – unless it's a dire life or death situation. But lately, after exercise I've been noticing a reddish, blushed tinge to my face. It used to disappear after a few minutes but now it's hanging around for several hours |

Salt is an essential ingredient to all living creatures on Earth.
t has a long history, where it has played a role: as currency, in religious rituals, as a preservative and for health and wellness. Many people are familiar with salt’s health uses in baths, as a saline solution, in neti pots, for gargling, and for cleaning and exfoliating the skin. |

We know exercise is important for longevity, health and weight control.
But have you ever considered the potential benefits that moving your body provides for the skin? I'm not talking about facial exercises or facial yoga that’s supposed to lift the skin by building the subcutaneous muscles. I’m talking about anything you do that gets your blood pumping. Like a good old-fashioned bush walk, swimming, power-walking, yoga... |

How Do We Age?
Research shows that there are three distinct types of aging: biological, extrinsic, and intrinsic. Biological aging is the result of changes that occur naturally within the body. These changes are the result of a gradual shift in the balance of certain hormones and messenger molecules excreted by other glands and organs within the body. |

When it comes to good skin care practices, most clients tend to stop at the neck,
subjecting the body to subpar ingredients found in mass-marketed lotions. Skin is the largest organ and is a reactive mechanism, so it makes sense that what we put into and on the body will most certainly impact its appearance. By treating the body with the same care, quality ingredients, and treatments as the face, is it possible to transform the skin to a more youthful, healthy state? |

Healthy Liver, Clear Skin
Skin care professionals are starting to understand that, in order to transform a client’s skin, they need to start looking inside the body. They understand that lifestyle choices greatly affect treatment of acne, rosacea, and melasma; however, they do not usually think of liver damage when treating the skin. |
