Beauty therapy makes a rewarding career for creative, hands-on people with an outgoing personality. With our near-new salon facilities, you’ll learn in a real working environment – complete with weekly salon days for paying public clients.

This internationally-recognised qualification will train you in all aspects of beauty therapy, opening doors to a wide variety of careers including working in spas, salons, hotels and resorts, on cruise ships, becoming a sales representative, or even setting up your own business.

What you will learn
Learn how to perform a wide range of beauty therapy skills including facial and body treatments, Swedish body massage, manicures and pedicures, epilation, skin care and make-up. You’ll gain hands-on experience consulting with clients and develop key skills in communication and customer service, whilst performing treatments. Graduates can also gain an internationally-recognised City & Guilds qualification.

You will learn to:

• Consult with clients and identify their beauty requirements
• Provide competent professional beauty therapy services in a variety of settings
• Undertake facial and body treatments
• Undertake manicures and pedicures
• Undertake epilation
• Provide skin care and make-up treatments
• Maintain health and safety in the salon.

All applicants must have: 

• A minimum of three years of secondary school education 
• Motivation to work in the beauty industry
• A strong interest and commitment to beauty services.

Preference will be given to applicants who have achieved Level 2 NCEA in science and English. Mature students seeking to return to the work force or a change in career are welcomed.

Students must be 16 years of age or older at the time of the start date of the programme, unless approved by the Programme Leader. Evidence of suitability based on interview and/or portfolio.

Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or NZCEL Level 4 with the Academic endorsement.
